چکیده

Experimental tests have been carried out for characterizing the performance of a new single-photon avalanche diode. The detector is specifically designed for picosecond timecorrelated single photon counting, aiming to obtain a time response free from the tail effects and/or secondary bumps observed in all other available single-photon detectors. The experimental results confirm that an unprecedented ultraclean response is attained, with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 35 ps, full width at a thousandth of the peak count of 214 ps, together with a photon detection efficiency of 35% around 580-nm wavelength.

Neural Imaging Using Single-Photon Avalanche Diodes

Introduction: This paper analyses the ability of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) for neural imaging. The current trend in the production of SPADs moves toward the minimumdark count rate (DCR) and maximum photon detection probability (PDP). Moreover, the jitter response which is the main measurement characteristic for the timing uncertainty is progressing. Methods: The neural imaging pro...

OPTIMA: A Photon Counting High-Speed Photometer

OPTIMA is a small, versatile high-speed photometer which is primarily intended for time resolved observations of young high energy pulsars at optical wavelengths. The detector system consists of eight fiber fed photon counters based on avalanche photodiodes, a GPS timing receiver, an integrating CCD camera to ensure the correct pointing of the telescope and a computerized control unit. Since Ja...

Photon dosimetry based on selective data sampling for the NaI(TL) detector

Radiation detection is essential for determining of radiation dose. Depend on the detector and dosimetry method, detection process is performed in different levels. Pulse counting is the first level of detection. Typically, the output of a radiation detector for determining value of the radiation dose cannot be used directly. Through changing the response function or the readout detector, is tr...

Pseudo-random single photon counting for time-resolved optical measurement.

We report a new time-resolved optical measurement method which combines single photon counting and the spread spectrum time-resolved optical measurement method. A laser diode modulated with pseudo-random bit sequences replaces the short pulse laser used in conventional time-resolved optical systems, while a single photon detector records the pulse sequence in response to the modulated excitatio...

A space- and time-resolved single photon counting detector for fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy.

We have recently developed a wide-field photon-counting detector having high-temporal and high-spatial resolutions and capable of high-throughput (the H33D detector). Its design is based on a 25 mm diameter multi-alkali photocathode producing one photo electron per detected photon, which are then multiplied up to 107 times by a 3-microchannel plate stack. The resulting electron cloud is proximi...
